Boardgammon Terms of Service

Last updated: July 12, 2026

Short version: play fair, be decent to your opponents, coins aren't money, and don't use engines against humans. The longer version below is still written to be read.

1. The agreement

Boardgammon (the app for iOS and Android, and the game at boardgammon.com) is operated by Peyman Ghaderkourehpaz (“Boardgammon”, “we”). By creating an account or playing, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please don't use the service.

2. Accounts and eligibility

  • You may play as a guest or register with email, Apple, or Google sign-in. Keep your account credentials to yourself; you are responsible for activity on your account.
  • You must be old enough to use online game services in your country (13+ in most places). Voice chat additionally requires an 18+ self-attestation and mutual opt-in.
  • One person, one rated identity. Parallel accounts used to manipulate ratings or rewards may be closed.

3. Fair play

  • No engine assistance in games against humans. Using bots, analyzers, or another person's guidance during a live rated match is cheating. Post-game analysis is what the review tools are for — after the game.
  • No exploits. Abusing bugs, disconnection tricks, clock manipulation, or the rating system violates these terms.
  • Respect the table. Harassment or abuse through any social surface (reactions, names, voice) may lead to muting, restriction, or account closure. Use the in-app report tools.
  • The server validates every move and every roll (provably fair dice); anti-cheat systems review play patterns. We may annul games, adjust ratings, or suspend accounts where cheating is established.

4. Virtual coins

Coins are a virtual currency for entertainment: stake them on matches, spend them on cosmetics. They have no cash value, cannot be redeemed, withdrawn, transferred outside the service, or exchanged for real money, and may be adjusted where obtained through abuse. Boardgammon is not a gambling service.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

  • Pro subscriptions ($4.99/month, $39.99/year with 7-day trials) and one-time purchases (Pro Lifetime $89.99, themes, coin packs) are billed by Apple or Google, and their store terms govern payment, cancellation, and refunds.
  • Cancel a subscription anytime in your store account settings; access continues to the end of the paid period.
  • Entitlements attach to your Boardgammon account and follow it across devices, including the web.

6. Your content and our service

  • You keep rights to content you provide (display name, avatar). You grant us the license needed to operate the service — showing your name to opponents, on leaderboards, and in match history.
  • Game records of online matches (moves, dice proofs, results) are service data we retain so games stay verifiable and replayable; deleted accounts are anonymized in them (see the privacy policy).
  • The Boardgammon apps, site, artwork, and engines are our or our licensors' property. Don't copy, scrape at scale, reverse-engineer for cheating, or resell the service.

7. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Boardgammon anytime and delete your account in Settings → Account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, harm other players, or create legal risk — with notice where practicable. Sections that by nature survive (coins, liability, disputes) survive termination.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Boardgammon is provided “as is”. We work hard on uptime, fairness, and data integrity but cannot promise uninterrupted service, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of $50 or what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, to the extent local law allows. Nothing here limits rights that your local consumer law grants you regardless of contract.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes are announced in the app and on this page with a new “last updated” date; continuing to play after a change takes effect means you accept it.
