Cocked dice

Dice not lying flat after the roll; both must be re-rolled.

How it works in play

A die that comes to rest tilted, on a checker, off the board or outside the right-hand half of the board is cocked, and both dice are thrown again. Online dice can’t cock, but the rule still matters at a real table.

  • Roll — The two dice numbers thrown on a turn.
  • Doubles — Rolling the same number on both dice (e.g. 4-4); the number is played four times.
  • First roll — The opening roll-off where each player rolls one die; the higher number plays both dice first.
