Fevga

Greek/Turkish variant with no hitting, where a single checker holds a point.

How it works in play

In Fevga both players race their fifteen checkers in the same direction from opposite corners, and nothing is ever hit: a single checker holds a point on its own. The game is about blocking, and it is the third game of a Greek tavli session.

  • Tavli — Greek backgammon — the session triplet of Portes, Plakoto and Fevga.
  • Plakoto — Greek variant where blots are pinned (trapped in place) rather than hit.
  • Nard / Narde — The Persian ancestor of backgammon — and the Russian-sphere name for the game family today.
  • Prime — Consecutive made points (a 4-prime, 5-prime, or the impassable 6-prime).
