Match equity

The probability of winning the match from a given score.

How it works in play

Your match equity is your chance of winning the match from the current score: 50% at 0-0, more for the leader. Cube and checker decisions in a match aim to raise it, so the same position can be a take at one score and a pass at another.

  • MET — Match equity table — the standard reference grid of match-winning chances by score.
  • EMG — "Equivalent to money game" — the normalized unit for expressing match-play equity.
  • Crawford rule — Universal in match play: when a player first reaches one point from victory, the next game is played without the doubling cube.
  • DMP — "Double match point": both players one point from winning the match.
