Lover’s leap

Running a back checker 24/13 with an opening 6-5.

How it works in play

With an opening 6-5, one back checker runs 24/13, all the way to safety on your midpoint. It is the standard play, and the engine’s margin over the alternatives is large: the 6-5 page shows the numbers.

  • First roll — The opening roll-off where each player rolls one die; the higher number plays both dice first.
  • Midpoint — The 13-point.
  • Running game — The plan of racing all checkers home without contact.
  • Race — A position with no remaining contact between the two sides.
