Redouble

A subsequent double by the current cube owner.

How it works in play

Only the player who owns the cube may redouble, turning it from 2 to 4, 4 to 8 and so on. A redouble needs a slightly bigger edge than a first double, because it gives up cube ownership: that is the 9 in the 8-9-12 race rule.

  • Double — An offer to double the stakes via the doubling cube, made before rolling.
  • Take — Accept a double, continuing the game at doubled stakes with cube ownership.
  • Cube life — The remaining value of cube ownership; quantified by Janowski’s live-cube calculations.
  • Live cube — A cube that can still be re-doubled, as opposed to a "dead cube."
  • Beaver — Money play only: an immediate redouble by the player who was just doubled, keeping cube ownership.
