Step 1 · One die, one move
Each die is used once. A 3 moves one checker three points; a 1 moves one checker one point.

Step 2 · Scripted roll
This lesson always rolls 3-1 so you can make a famous opening point.
Tap roll to reveal 3-1.
The roll: 3-1

Step 3 · Use the 3
A point is owned when two or more of your checkers sit there. Start building the 5-point.
Use the 3: tap the highlighted checker on the 8-point, then tap Land here on the 5-point.
The roll: 3-1
The move: 8/5
Good. That checker is now waiting on the 5-point.
Common mistake: That does not use the 3 to build the 5-point. The 8-point checker is the one to move first.

Step 4 · Use the 1
Now complete the point. Two White checkers on the 5-point make it safe and useful.
Use the 1: tap the highlighted checker on the 6-point, then tap Land here on the 5-point.
The roll: 3-1
The move: 6/5
The 5-point is made. Black cannot land there.
Common mistake: Only the 1 is left. Move from the 6-point onto the checker you just placed.

Step 5 · Why it matters
That one turn taught the heart of backgammon: read the dice, then build safe points. The 5-point guards your home board, and Black can no longer land there.

What you learned
You can now read a roll, make a two-part move, and understand why a made point is powerful.
